Ukrainian edition of the book “Epoch of Man. Rethoric and Lethargy of the Anthropocene” by Ewa Bińczyk. You can download the free e-book here.
In the early days of the brutal Russian onslaught on Ukraine, our association launched a project to support Ukraine in ways that did not seem obvious at the time. In addition to running collections of food and conservation materials, we felt it was equally important to launch a stream of intellectual resources that could assist in the country’s post-war reconstruction. The first topic addressed is the global climate crisis. The detailed motivation and the book itself are set out in an entry dated 17 June 2022. We are assured that the assumptions chosen are not eccentric and abstract. This is evidenced by the participation of the Ukrainian delegation at the COP27 gathering in Egypt in November, and by the words of President Volodymyr Zelensky in a speech broadcast at the conference: „There are still many for whom climate change is just rhetoric or marketing or political ritual – whatever, but not real action. They are the ones who hamper the implementation of climate goals. They are the ones in their offices who make fun of those who fight to save life on the planet, although in public they seem to support the work for the sake of nature in every possible way. They are the ones who start wars of aggression when the planet cannot afford a single gunshot, because it needs global joint actions”.
On 20 February 2023, work on the first publication was completed and today we are putting the result at the disposal of our Ukrainian friends.
The Association would like to extend particularly warm thanks to the author of the book, Prof. Ewa Bińczyk, for transferring the copyright to the Ukrainian edition free of charge. Equally warm thanks are due to the translator Anastasia Terletskaya for her persistent and focused work on the Ukrainian version of the book. We would like to thank all those involved in giving this work its final shape: the editor Halyna Listwak, the author of the graphic motif for the cover Olga Kravchenko, the producer of the e-book Joanna Ćwiklak. We are grateful to all our friends and members and supporters of the association who made this project possible through their financial support.
